Our award-winning class 121 “bubble car” has been immortalised in oil by our local artist-in-residence Lynn Ward. It is now available to buy as a limited edition, A3 colour print for only £30!
The bubble car is one of 16 single-car double-ended diesel multiple units built in 1960. 121 55032 joined our heritage diesel fleet in 2015 and was awarded the Railcar of the Year Award by the Railcar Association in 2021.
Yorkshire-born Lynn is based in Leyburn and mostly uses acrylic or oil in her work, which is primarily landscapes but not the traditional ‘view’. Her original painting of the Bedale Bubble on board measures approx. 50 cm x 40 cm.
