Explore the Dale by train.

Explore the Dale between Leeming Bar and Leyburn on one of our heritage diesel trains. Start your journey at Leeming Bar, the hub of the Wensleydale Railway and travel west up the dale to Leyburn before returning to Leeming Bar 2 hours later. There is free parking at Leeming Bar and the newly refurbished Station House takes you back in time to see what life was like at the Station in the 1920s. You can do this either before you start your journey or upon your return.

All tickets are rovers so hop on or off where you want.

Afternoon Tea …….with a touch of sparkle!

Our afternoon tea services start when you arrive at Leeming Bar Station and you are shown to your table in our refurbished vintage coaches, which you will find set with laundered table cloths, fresh flowers and vintage china. When everyone is aboard a refreshing glass of fizz or orange juice will be served whilst the train is prepared for departure.

After departure the train will head up the Dale whilst you are served by our volunteers with your choice of tea or coffee and a selection of freshly cut sandwiches. As the glorious Wensleydale scenery slides past the windows,  whatever the weather, you can sit in comfort and enjoy the experience.

Shortly we will arrive at Leyburn for a short break and if you wish, you can stretch your legs and see the locomotive as it runs around the train. Then it’s back on board for more tea or coffee and a selection of delicious scones and  cakes as we head back to Leeming Bar. As you enjoy a final luxury chocolate the journey comes to an end – until the next time!

Price, including travel ticket £45 per head – Children 14 and under £25.

Disabled Access: Unfortunately our vintage coaches do not have access for wheelchairs at this stage. If you have mobility constraints please let us know at the time of booking and we will do our best to allocate a table close to the access door.
