2024 Model Railway Weekend
4th – 6th May
3 Days of trains big and small
Over the May Bank Holiday weekend (4th May to 6th May) Leeming Bar Station will once again be hosting its popular model railway show. We will have layouts of various gauges from N to G on display, trade stands in attendance and food and drink will be on sale from our static buffet coach.
All our passenger services will be diesel loco-hauled! Class 33 33035, class 14 D9523 and Tyne & Wear shunter WL4 will be out over the weekend. WL4 will work a passenger train for the first time! We will also have the following static exhibits inside the engine shed:
Class 37 – bodywork and paint.
Class 14 – engine repairs.
Wickham Trolley – total rebuild.
There will be something for everyone at this event and attractions will include:
- A range of layouts from N to G gauge.
- Trains running throughout the weekend between Scruton and Leyburn. Check timetables for more information. All-day rover tickets will be available.
- Food and drink on sale from our static buffet coach at Leeming Bar.
- Refreshments also available at Bedale and Leyburn stations.
- All train services diesel loco-hauled.
- First use of WL4 on a passenger train.
- Static exhibits in the engine shed.
- Tickets available in advance or on the day
The event will be open from 10am to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday and 10am to 4pm on Monday. Tickets can be bought online or on the day at the show. Choose a ticket just for entry to the model railway show, an all-day train rover ticket (hop on and hop off where you like) or travel-only on selected trains. The choice is yours!

Getting There
There is a regular No. 73 bus service from Northallerton on the Saturday and the Wensleydale Flyer No. 856 bus runs on the Sunday and Monday.
