2026 Model Railway Weekend

2 days of big and small trains!

On 9 and 10 May, Leeming Bar Station will once again be hosting its popular model railway show. In addition to having layouts of various gauges from N to O on display and trade stands in attendance, hot & cold drinks and light snacks will be on sale from our buffet coach. Draft and bottled beer will also be on sale on the platform, next to the buffet car, courtesy of The Engine Shed Brewery.

All our passenger services will be diesel loco-hauled between Scruton and Leyburn over the whole weekend. Loco rosters to follow soon.

There will be something for everyone at this family-friendly event and attractions will
include:

  • A range of layouts from N to O gauge.

  • Trains running throughout the weekend between Scruton and Leyburn. Check timetables for more information. All-day rover tickets will be available.

  • Food and drink on sale from our static buffet coach at Leeming Bar.

  • Draught and bottled beer on sale on Leeming Bar platform.

  • Refreshments also available at Bedale and Leyburn stations.

 

The event will be open from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday. Tickets can be bought online or on the day at the show. Entry to the model railway show costs £6 for
adults and children under-16 are free.

In addition to the separate model railway show entry ticket, our full range of train travel tickets will be available.

For just £25, our ‘Ranger’ ticket allows you to spend the whole day riding our trains.
Perfect if you fancy spending the whole day with us and want to enjoy multiple return train trips! And don’t forget – children aged 3 to 15 travel for only £1 on our trains with a paying adult!!

Getting There

Are you coming by train? Travel to Northallerton mainline station by train and then it’s just a short walk to board the No. 73 bus to Leeming Bar. The journey takes 15-minutes, and the bus stop is only yards from Leeming Bar station entrance.
