Station Road, Scruton
Scruton station is our award winning recreation of how a small country station would have been in victorian times. On most running days it is staffed by volunteers in period costume who will guide you around the station and explain what rural life was like over 100 years ago.
On most days ‘Percy’s Tea Shop’ will be open selling hot and cold drinks, ice-creams and confectionary.

There is essentially no parking space at Scruton station and visitors are strongly advised to travel by train when visiting.

The 54 service runs between Northallerton and Kirkby Fleetham, passing Scruton station.

Leeming Bar

Leases Road, Leeming Bar
Currently nearing the end of its restoration, thanks to a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant, Leeming Bar Station is the hub of the Railway. Its home to the staff offices and engine shed where our locomotives and rolling stock are maintained and restored. Leeming Bar is conveniently located just off the A1, and has 2 pubs and a very handy Co-Op store right opposite the station
Getting Here
By Car
Leeming Bar Station is approximately 1/2 mile from junction 51 on the A1(M). From the A1 follow the signs for Leeming Bar Industrial estate, then after the level crossing turn right in to the car park. For drivers coming via the A684 head towards Leeming Bar and at the mini-roundabout take the minor road signed towards Kirkby Fleetham, then just before the level crossing turn left in to the car park.
By Public Transport:
The 73 service runs during weekdays and Saturdays from Northallerton, (including a stop by Northallerton Railway Station) to Bedale and return
The 856 service operates on Sundays only between Hawes and Northallerton
Bedale

Bedale Road, Aiskew
Bedale Station is situated a short walk from the high street of this Georgian Market Town which has a good range of shops and attractions including a small museum. Market day is Tuesday. The station is lovingly looked after by a team of volunteers and has a small arts and craft shops.

By Car
There is limited parking at Bedale Station, however there are a number of car parks in Bedale within 5 minutes walk of the station.
Bedale Station is just off the A684 on the boundary of Aiskew and Bedale. From Northallerton, follow the A684 in to Aiskew, down the hill and immediately after the gated level crossing, turn left in to the station car park
From Bedale, follow the A684 towards Northallerton, making sure you turn left at the crossroads. Just before the gated level crossing turn right in to the station car park.
By Public Transport
The 73 service runs between Northallerton and Bedale.
There are various services to Masham and villages towards Leyburn and onwards to Hawes. For further details please consult the Dalesbus website which carries up to the minute information in its All Year Buses section.
The 856 service runs on Sundays only from Hawes to Northallerton.
All buses stop in Bedale Market Place, 5 minute walk from Bedale Station. On leaving the bus turn right and head towards the crossroads, where you need to turn left, down the hill, follow the path round the corner and the station is on the right hand side.
The 829 service runs on Sundays only from Richmond to Bedale station. We have negotiated a special deal wirth our friends at Dales Bus. You can board the service from Richmond and just show your Wensleydale Railway ticket to get a free ride to and from Bedale station. So if you are in Richmond any sunday and fancy a trip on the railway then we havre made it simple for you
Finghall Lane

Chapel Lane, Finghall
A request stop –to board please signal the driver as the train approaches the platform. On your return, please inform the guard that you wish to alight. Finghall is a well preserved example of a small rural station that features in “All Creatures Great and Small” and more recently “The Yorkshire Vet”

Leyburn

Harmby Road Leyburn
Leyburn Station, the current terminus of the line, is another one of our stations which is run and maintain by a group of committed and hardworking volunteers. The station is a highlight on your Wensleydale Railway journey with the recent installation of the passing loop and the soon to be fitted railway bridge, make sure you explore the station and pop into Arthur’s Tea Room for a slice of homemade cake and a cuppa before continuing on your journey.
Leyburn is the main market town of mid Wensleydale with shops, cafes and craft shops with tastes such as bespoke chocolate and ceramics catered for (1/4 mile walk from the station). Market day is on a Friday. Why not check out the gin distillery of Taplin and Mageean located next door to the station or take a walk along The Shawl, a limestone escarpment with fantastic views? Reputedly named because Mary Queen of Scots lost her shawl whilst escaping from Bolton Castle.

By Car
Leyburn Station is on the A684 on Harmby Road. From Leyburn follow the A684 towards Northallerton, the station is approximately 100 yards after the turn for Middleham and Ripon (A6108).
From Northallerton, head towards Leyburn Town Centre, the station is on the right hand side just after Naylor Myers Builders Merchants.

Redmire – No Current Services

Hargil Lane, Redmire
Redmire is currently only used as an engineering base while we relay the line to Leyburn, and so does not have any cuurent passenger services. With stunning scenery and amazing views of Penhill. It is ideally located for a walk further into Wensleydale or follow in Turner’s footsteps up to Bolton Castle (3/4 mile), the spectacular medieval fortress which is over 600 years old. Redmire Force (1 mile) a series of small waterfalls on the River Ure or Aysgarth (4miles) make for a lovely walks and are particular beauty spots in the Yorkshire Dales Nation Park. Redmire is also home to the annual music Festival – WensleyAle which is held every May.
Getting Here
By Car From Wensley, head towards Redmire. On the way you will pass Preston-under-Scar on the right. After you pass a right hand turn sign posted Richmond, about 1/3 mile further on, and there is a sharp left hand bend with a track to the right. Turn up this track and the car park is the second left.
From Redmire village, head out towards Leyburn and Richmond, you will go under an arched bridge. After the bridge, turn left up a track and the car park is second on the left.
