Work on the renovation of Leeming Bar Station will start later this month. This will start with the roof being replaced to make the entire building waterproof, then continue with its renovation to its condition in the 1920. It will then serve as both office space for staff and as a focus for the Heritage Education Program. This will allow children to see how the station would have been in the past, and provide a ticket office and waiting room for our passenger.
The work to complete the building should end in late 2020, and while work is being carried out the current users will re-locate to temporary porta-cabins, with a portion of the carpark also being used for materials and workspace.
The work is being funded in part by a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, with the rest of the money provided by the Wensleydale Railway Association Trust.
