The first train to run over the railway ran on the 23rd September, taking materials to one of our works sites in preparation for the Infrastructure Upgrade. The class 03 took a number of wagons, including the recently refurbished Shark ballast plough from Leeming to the works site.

We expect further engineers working to run over the next few days as preparation ramp up, including early next week a train of recovered flat bottom rail coming off the mainline at Northallerton to deposit the rail at Harmby. This will be the first train to use the mainline connection since the departure of Tornado at the beginning of lockdown. Please be aware that these engineering services will not be running to a fixed timetable, so consider the entire railway to be live and always expect the unexpacted when crossing the line by footpath or road crossing.

All of this work is to enable the railway to be in a position to re-open with Polar in Novermber, and is not cheap, so if you can, please donate to our appeal below.
