Exercise Turnout 20 is now drawing to a close, with some fantastic benefits for the railway being achieved. Wensley crossing has been replaced, the track relay at Harmby has been completed and Swale bridge has been retimbered. The Army also carried out a number of smaller projects and many behind the scenes excercises, all beneficial to the Railway.

As they packe up and get ready to return to their bases we need to thank them for all their efforts in helping with our infrastructure, which needed some TLC before we can start to run passenger trains again. One of the final acts was the signing of a covanent between the railway and Reserve Forces and Cadets Association (RFCA) Yorkshire and Humberside plus Reserve Forces and The Royal Engineers. This will help cement the relationship between the Railway and the Army and hopefully assist in organising future events.

The covenant was signed on Leyburn Platform, with full social distancing measures in place, between Steve Davies for the Wensleydale Railway Plc and Colonel Darin Gray on behalf of the Army.
